Element 2: Field Experience

(a) Field methods courses

A hands-on course in hydrogeology will be offered through Queen’s University at the Kennedy Field Station (KFS). Students will learn remote sensing, drilling and well completion techniques, hydraulic testing methods and sampling methods for the characterization of bedrock aquifers.

Another option is the Waterloo University field school course. A 3-week graduate course that covers theory and applications of field techniques in hydrogeology. Physical, chemical, and isotopic methods are included with applications to groundwater and surface water hydrology. The course includes lectures, field activities, team projects and assignments, and is offered every April.

(b) Safety Training

Field safety training will be provided within four months of starting RENEW, allowing industry partners to draw quickly from the pool of trainees for additional fieldwork personnel.

(c) Field-based research
